Skinbooster Explained:
Skinbooster treatments involve multiple minute punctures on the skin to deliver an injectable into the superficial layers. The primary goals of this treatment are to improve skin texture, complexion, and hydration.
Origin of the Term:
The term “skinbooster” likely originated from Restylane’s Vital Light, one of the earliest skinbooster products made of pure hyaluronic acid (HA). Over time, the range of injectable components has expanded to include polynucleotide (PN), as seen in products like Rejuran and Plinest.
Instantly Visible Results:
While skinboosters are classified as dermal fillers, they do not provide the same filling effects. The HA used in skinboosters differs from that in dermal fillers in several ways:
At YVL Medical Aesthetics, we offer the following skinbooster products (non-exhaustive):
These can be combined if needed for optimal results. A typical skinbooster regimen consists of three sessions spaced one month apart, with annual maintenance.
Assess Your Skin Concerns First:
Before starting a series of skinbooster treatments to improve your complexion and glow, it’s essential to identify what specifically bothers you about your skin.
Screen for Skin Conditions:
Skin conditions are common and should be screened for before beginning skinbooster treatments. Many skin issues benefit from specific treatments that do not involve injections.
Common Skin Issues:
Based on our experience, skin issues can be broadly categorized into two main types:
1. Inflammation:
Symptoms: Excessive oil production, frequent pimples, easy flushing and redness, and “sensitive” skin.
Underlying Conditions: Middle-aged women often have underlying rosacea, which requires topical anti-inflammatory creams.
Role of Skinboosters: Skinboosters can play a supportive role, but the primary treatment involves topical applications.
2. Pigmentation:
Common Concerns: Many seek skinbooster treatments to address pigmentation. However, skinboosters are not the primary treatment for pigmentation issues.
Melasma: A common pigmentation disorder in middle-aged women, primarily treated with topical creams and sometimes oral tranexamic acid.
Other Pigmentation Disorders: These may require repeated laser treatment sessions.
Role of Skinboosters: In the context of pigmentation, skinboosters provide supportive care but cannot replace primary treatments.
